Local Authority Prevention Demonstration (LAPD) Programme

The LAPD programme is a funding programme being implemented by the Irish Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that seeks to address and support previously identified successful prevention based activities by Irish Local Authorities. 

The Clean Technology Centre are acting as advisors to the EPA and the local authoirities in the programme, of which there are now 2 phases. more


www.eco-net.ie and eLearning programme
HERMES II (Health-Environment-Risk Managers Educational Support  Phase II, PT05/PP/10/24/061) is a vocational training project co-funded under the Leonardo da Vinci Programme (Phase II) of the European Commission.  The main aim of the project is to develop, test and implement an eLearning based training programme on environmental management. The main target group of the project is industry including Small to Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs). However, most of the project products will be also useful for students, public administration employees or for the unemployed looking for an opportunity to increase their attractiveness on the labour market.
 
The main deliverables of the project, from each of the partners, are:
 
  • a Web Portal (www.eco-net.ie in the case of the Clean Technology Centre) which will provide useful and topical information on environmental management
  • a regular Bulletin which containing articles on a range of important issues to the environmental professional
  • an eLearning course on a web based platform, which will contain 3 main modules on Environmental Review; Environmental Management and Environmental Reporting

Green Fáilte Award Website

The Green Fáilte Award is Ireland’s first Environmental Award Scheme for the Hospitality Sector.

The Green Fáilte Award was developed by Cork County Council and the Clean Technology Centre, CIT in the late 1990’s in order to facilitate hotels and restaurants to improve their environmental performance. The Award Scheme was revitalised in 2003 and re-launched in 2004 with its first Award Winners. This stage of the Award Scheme was developed by CTC and Hospitality Solutions Consulting Ltd (HSC) together with the backing of Cork Chamber of Commerce and was supported by Cork City & County Councils and local sponsors.

ETTAR - Environmental Technologies for the Transport Sector

ETTAR (Environmental Technologies, Training and Awareness-Raising) has been established to identify and assess training needs, methods and activities for the wider use of environmental technologies in the transportation sector. ETTAR focuses on activities that assist the sector to make its contribution to reductions not just of greenhouse gases but also of other pollutants that have significant consequences for ecosystems.

ETTAR runs from April 2007 to September 2008 and is a coordinated action plan under the 6th EU Framework Programme with contract No. 044244. It builds on action 22 and 23 of the Environmental Technologies Action Plan (ETAP) actions on targeted training and awareness raising. To go to the ETTAR website, click here.


Free online Hazardous Waste Identification Tool

CTC, with co-funding from the European Commission, have developed an online hazardous waste identification tool (HWIT). This tool follows on the paper based tool created by CTC for the Irish EPA (click here for link). National Waste Prevention Programme

The National Waste Prevention Programme, managed by the Irish Environmental Protection Agency, aims to deliver substantive results on waste prevention and minimisation and will integrate a range of initiatives addressing awareness-raising, technical and financial assistance, training and incentive mechanisms.


Cleaner Greener Production Programme (CGPP)

The Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Cleaner Greener Production Programme (CGPP), which began in 2001, provides grant aid to organisations to assist them in preventing and minimising their environmental impact.
